When you sponsor a child, you will have the opportunity to form a relationship with your sponsored child and see the changes you are helping to make in their lives. Through letters, photos and reports, you can see the progress of the child and their community over the years, and know that you have made a measurable difference to a child’s life and future.
BEDCT will provide sponsors updates on the child’s progress (e.g. school reports, local project updates) and financial reports on an annual basis.
When you sponsor a child, the funds are used to provide essential services that benefit all children in your sponsored child’s community. In the past, this was not the case – individual children only received the benefits of sponsorship and this created inequality within families and communities. Now, sponsorship funds are pooled together in order to provide long-term benefits such as education, basic healthcare and vital development work for the growth and sustainability of the whole community.
In using sponsorship funds, our top priority is ensuring that children are provided with the opportunity to go to school. In addition, sponsorship funds are combined and used for large-scale projects like installing water systems, comprehensive immunization programs, nutrition and other livelihood initiatives.
It should be noted here that BEDCT is completely transparent in our operation and financial accountability. Your money will be transferred in full to our partnering organizations. We absorb our administrative costs through our own fundraising activities. Therefore, the full $30 will go toward facilitating the child’s education, healthcare and community development projects.
BEDCT work with partner organizations and local agencies in extremely poor communities to select the community most in need of assistance. When a community is selected, all children from that community are included within the sponsorship program.
BEDCT regularly conducts needs assessments of different communities in the countries where we work. In addition, BEDCT staff will spend extended amounts of time working in the community with our partner organizations to evaluate and ensure the smooth running of all programs.
