Stories of Hope

Moc HA

Moc was sent to work in a garment factory in Saigon two years ago at age 14. His older brother, Chau, had been trafficked to work in the same factory, but was sent away once he became too ill to work. As it turned out, Chau had incurable cancer. In April of 2008, Moc was rescued from the garment factory. One month later, his brother died and Moc returned to Saigon in an effort to raise money to pay for the funeral debts. In July 2008, Moc was rescued a second time. Our supporters helped Chau's family pay some of the funeral debt, and now supports Moc and his two younger siblings to stay in school.

Ha NGUYEN

Ha was sent to work in a garment factory at age 11 as a "trainee," earning no pay. Ha was difficult to rescue because she felt obligated to help her very poor family, worrying that returning to her home would be a burden on her family. After some convincing, Ha was rescued and returned to Hue. Our partner support Ha to return to school and is helping support the family as well.

Vien TRAN

Vien is 13 years old and has never been to school because of a speech impediment. In addition to being denied schooling, she has been ostracized and cast out of the community. Our partner is supporting her with medical intervention and a hearing aid and is currently in the process of hiring a special teacher for her.
